Registration

Online registration through our website is required to submit an absentee bid or phone bid. Once registered, you will also be able to log in and track items or receive e-mail alerts when an artist or item of your choosing becomes available. Your e-mail address will also be added to our database and you will be included in any e-mail alerts we send out.


Bidding

  • Live - Register the day of the auction, showing photo ID, and a number will be assigned to you for bidding. Lots are sold in numerical order. When the auctioneer announces a lot you are interested in, simply raise your paddle to indicate your interest.
  • Phone - Phone bidding can be arranged by calling 585.243.3100 as soon as possible and at least 24 hours before the sale. Please refrain from trying to arrange phone bidding the day of the auction. A phone bid form will be available online to fill out and submit or to print and fax/mail in. Faxes can be sent to 585.243.9067 or mail to: Cottone Auctions, 120 Court St., Geneseo, NY, 14454.
  • Absentee - Absentee bids work as if you are in the room. They are executed in a competitive manner up to your maximum bid. There is an Absentee bid form available online that can be emailed or faxed to us. Bids should be received 24 hours prior to the sale. When we execute an absentee bid on your behalf, the lot will always be bought for the lowest increment that exceeds all competing bids. In the event of identical bids, the earliest received bid will take precedence. Absentee bids will not be executed on items which are found to be other than described in the catalog.
  • Internet - Live internet bidding is available through Live Auctioneers. You must register with them prior to the day of the sale.


Shipping & Pick Up

Cottone Auctions can arrange shipping nationally and internationally at the buyer's expense. Transportation arrangements can be made for large items, or you may schedule your own delivery. All purchases not picked up on the day of the auction will be available for pickup upon request. Please be sure to call ahead.

Payments

Cottone Auction’s buyers premium is 18% and will be added to the hammer price of each lot. There is a 3% discount if payment is made by cash or pre-approved check. Visa & Master Card area also accepted. (Checks are considered "pre-approved" if you have done business with Cottone Auctions in the past & are in good standing. Otherwise, a bank letter of credit, cashier's check, money order or wire transfer may be used.) Cottone Auctions recommends that you pre-approve your check if you plan to use this payment method. We ask for your patience as your purchase will be released upon notice that your payment has cleared. All purchases are subject to an 8% NY State sales tax, unless a valid NYS resale certificate is filed with Cottone Auctions.
