The Dr. Bruce A. Austin Collection of American Arts & Crafts
Dr. Bruce A. Austin (Pittsford, New York) was among the foremost scholars of the American Arts & Crafts movement. Professor Emeritus in Communication at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he chaired the department and later directed RIT Press, he was equally known to the antiques world as an expert in the Arts & Crafts movement who lectured and appraised widely. His scholarship centered on the movement in New York State — the Stickleys and Harvey Ellis in Syracuse, Roycroft in East Aurora, Charles Rohlfs in Buffalo — and his books include A Symbiotic Partnership, on Gustav Stickley's 1903 Arts & Crafts exhibitions.
