Ht. 78" dia. 28" Est. $500,000-$800,000 Merton Armstrong was co-founder of Sterling Alarm Company which held the patent for Sterling fire alarms in Rochester, NY. Merton, an avid Tiffany collector, purchased these lamps in the 1920’s and 1930’s, some directly from Tiffany Studios. They have been boxed up and stored since Merton’s death in 1970. Cottone Auctions sold a Tiffany Studios, NY Mapleleaf floor lamp on March 21, 2009 along with a Tiffany Studios Indian Basket lamp, having been consigned by Merton’s heirs. Another rare Tiffany Studios “Fish Scale” floor lamp from Merton’s collection was sold by Christie’s on Dec. 18, 2008. Cottone Auctions is pleased to be offering the Tiffany Studios Magnolia floor lamp, Dragonfly, Daffodil, and Turtleback chandelier from the Armstrong collection, along with the Bigelow Kennard floor lamp, marble statues, and other fine antiques from the estate. |
