Lot #: 489
Monumental George Jones, New York, Astronomical Regulator
c 1860. Beautifully carved walnut case with maiden’s head and shell crest, scrolled embellishments, burled panels and carved pilasters the length of the door. The clock holds a 15 ½” engraved brass/silvered Astronomical dial and a heavy brass 3-dial weight driven Astronomical movement. The dial is inscribed J.M. Graham, Providence, most likely the person for whom the regulator was made. A four tube mercury pendulum is accentuated by the original mirror back case.
