Very Rare E. Howard No. 70 “Kosmic” Wall Regulator

One of only six known examples. Original revolving hour wood blocks with black painted Roman hour numerals 1-12 alternating with Arabic hour numbers 13-24 thus creating a 24 hour dial. As the hour hand passes each block, a spindle on the center post contacts a spindle on the numeral arbor and rolls the block over to the next 12 sequence, blocks are mounted on a cast brass frame behind the dial. Has a brass 8-day weight driven time only No. 70 movement signed “E. Howard & Co., Boston”, anchor escapement, solid brass pulley, lead weight, ebonized wood pendulum stick with brass covered bob and brass lockdown hardware mounted on the wood weight baffle. In a walnut No. 70 wall hanging case with deep rich patina, flanged door bezel, cut corbels and lower drop section with red, black and gold leaf reverse painted tablet.
