Details:
Paul Jenkins (American, 1923-2012)
Paul Jenkins was an American abstract expressionist painter. His early works were made in oil on primed canvas, and throughout his career, he turned to working on paper with ink and watercolor. Influenced by Geothe’s color theories, Jenkins began to preface the titles of his works with the word “Phenomena” followed by a key word or phrase. Jenkins was influenced by Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, and Barnett Newman. His travels and working with various artists gave shape to the variety of works he created during his career.
