Robert Ernst Marx (German/American, 1925-2020)
Robert Ernst Marx was a German American fine artist who created worked through oil painting, drawing, bronze casted sculptures, and mid-century etchings. Marx’s focus was in oil painting and figurative work. His main theme was on the personification of the human condition, the portraying of the people around us every day. Marx’s main themes were the arrogance of power, the exclusivity of institutions, our own and others’ personal fears and insecurities, and being trapped by social conventions. Creating his own visual language, Marx was able to express the difficult and sometimes painful themes through oil paint and figurative motifs.
