Details:
Milton Holm was an American Impressionist and a significant painter in Rochester, New York. He was active in the Rochester Art Club and served as president of the Genesee Group of Painters, formerly known as the Geneseeans. This group of representational painters sought to capture the Spirit of Place while rendering their regional landscapes and was dedicated to resist European modernism. During the Great Depression, Holm maintained an active exhibition schedule at the National Academy of Design, and later became involved with the Rationalists, organized in 1939, in Rochester. Their aim was orderly creation and craftsmanship plus individuality.
