Details:
Aldro Thompson Hibbard (American, 1886-1972)
Aldro Thompson Hibbard was an American plein air painter known for his depictions of snowy landscapes, particularly of Vermont. He discovered Rockport, Massachusetts in 1919, not long after he had begun painting in Vermont. He established a summer school there, which grew into a Rockport institution. For 30 years, he taught artists and amateurs alike to see the Massachusetts coast as a familiar, old fashioned place - as quintessentially New England as snow-covered Vermont.
