Edward S. Siebert (American, 1856-1938)
Edward S. Siebert was a German engraver who immigrated to the U.S. in 1840 or 1843, and settled in Washington. He studied with Albert Bauer in Weimar, Germany about 1871-76. In Washington, 1876-79. In Germany, about 1879-84, he studied with Carl H. Hoff in Karlsruhe, and Wilhelm von Diez in Munich. He lived in New York from 1884 to 1895. He travelled between New York and Washington from 1895 to 1932. Siebert then moved to Rochester, N.Y. in 1932 and later died January 31, 1944.
