Provenance Note: Dr. Arthur C. Carr, was a distinguished professor of Clinical Psychology at both Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical College. His interest in modern art, particularly Pop Art, indicates that he likely had a deep appreciation for how contemporary artists like Warhol explored themes of identity, media, and culture - topics that often intersect with psychological ideas. Artists he collected included Robert Indiana, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Agnes Martin, Claes Oldenberg, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Sylvia Sleigh, Ernest Trova, Andy Warhol, John Wesley, and Jack Youngerman, among others.
